Travelling to Cebu anytime soon? Scanning through booking sites to check the best accommodation that will fit your budget and itinerary? If you’re in for the adventure and you’re open to meeting backpackers and travelers around the world, then Le Village is the best place for you to stay in Cebu!

Here are five great reasons why The Lifeaholics think Le Village was ranked as TripAdvisor’s No.1 Best Hostel in Cebu for 2015 :

  1. Accessibility

Conveniently located right in the heart of the city, Le Village Hostel is just a stone’s throw away from Cebu’s city attractions, entertainment hub, and tourist spots. The hostel is right across Royal Concourse, one of the most affordable buffet restaurant in Cebu. If you’re on a tight budget and you prefer to save your cash for transportation to your planned destinations, you can dine at plenty cheap eateries available nearby. Just before entering Le Village, there’s also a kiosk painted in bright yellow which serves delicious shawarma and kebabs that are perfect for dinner, snacks or any meal of the day!

Le Village is also just a few minutes walk to Ayala Center Cebu — the city’s best lifestyle mall. Ayala Center Cebu offers wide dining options and if you fancy a little bit of shopping, you’ll enjoy the mall’s extensive assortment of merchandise and brands.

If you want to experience the city’s vibrant party scene, there’s a party district that’s a few blocks away from the hostel — Mango Avenue. You can find clubs and bars which open as early as 10pm until 6am and restaurants that are operating 24/7.

If you need medical attention, you need not worry because the hostel is also near a hospital, Perpetual Soccour.

2. Affordability

For budget travelers, saving on accommodation is imperative to allocate bigger allowance on transportation and logistics for their planned trip. After all, you just need a basic sleeping place where you can comfortably rest before you head to your next adventure and proceed with your itinerary.

For as low as P450 per night, you can snugly go on downtime and cozily rest at Le Village Hostel. They offer wide room options that suit your needs and budget. They have dormitory type of rooms with bunk beds. They also have fan rooms,  private rooms with queen beds and shared toilet and bath and a private room with its own toilet and bath. Extra beds are also offered for P400. At full capacity, Le Village Hostel can accommodate 60-70 guests per night.

3. Exceptional Service

Apart from affordability, travelers also value stellar service and that’s one of the playing fields where Le Village Hostel excels at. Upon checking in the hostel, a welcome drink (usually a cold bottle of beer) is offered by their warm and friendly staff. We were treated like family during  our stay at Le Village. They made sure that our needs were met and our requests were accommodated. The co-owners of the hostel, Junel and Marge, personally greets guests checking in whenever they’re around the hostel and they make time to have chitchat with guests from all over the world.

For travelers who are working on the go or those who just can’t live disconnected to the online world, they have free Wi-fi at their outdoor patio with bamboo benches typical to Filipino homes. You can also pass the time away with board games in the receiving area.

5. Great Place to meet Backpackers and Travelers around the World

Unlike the bravado of fancy hotels, what’s interesting about hostels is that you can get to socialize with other travelers and backpackers who most likely share the same passion and interests as you do. Oftentimes, the hotel set-up can become too stiff and business like. Guests just come and go.

While we were comfortably lounging at the patio of Le Village one evening, there were a group of foreign guests who were sharing their adventures and travels while on the road around Cebu and other neighboring islands. I didn’t mean to eavesdrop but I listened long enough to hear what one traveling couple shared. They said that they were humbled with the hospitality of the Filipinos. They tried to immerse with the locals on their trip to Bohol and they stayed in a home with a Filipino family who offered them their own bed while the family slept at the living area.

Exchanges of personal travel stories, plans, ideas and tips are common in Le Village Hostel. It’s something you wouldn’t get when you stay at a hotel. You might have technology and the online world to help you map out your adventure but listening and hearing travel tales from people who have actually been there are far more enriching and satisfying. What a better way to learn about the cultures of other countries!

Flip Cup at Le Village Hostel

Aside from the chit chat with the other guests, Junel and the staff of Le Village Hostel usually organizes a party game called “Flip Cup” almost every night. Willing participants will be divided into teams to compete. The first team to finishing flipping the cup upside down wins and the losing team will have to enjoy the consequences agreed by the winning team which is usually a human pyramid or human longest line.

The Lifeaholics had an amazing time at Le Village Hostel! If you’re looking for budget or affordable accommodation in Cebu, we definitely recommend Village Hostel.

And wait there’s more! If you’re planning a trip to Oslob or Moalboal, Le Village also has hostels in those destinations. If you’re thrill seekers looking for adrenaline pumping adventures, you can try Canyoning or Canyoneering in the Southern part of Cebu. You can also chase waterfalls and frolic at the pristine, powdery white sand beaches. There are just so much activities in and outside Cebu. And Junel can also personally help you with your itinerary!
